2019

This year, I have the opportunity to race the Bikingman Serie again.

Each BikingMan race respects a self-supported ultra cycling format. Beyond pure cycling skills, orienteering and an ability to adapt to an unknown environment are essential to become a finisher.

In contrast to ultra-cycling racing formats where assistance is allowed and where the pure performance of the athlete is crucial, the BikingMan races are precisely designed to bring together athletes in unfamiliar and uncommon environments. A BikingMan race is a total challenge, where every rider, even experienced, will have to go beyond her/his limits and manage her/his effort to reach the finish line.er ici pour modifier.

Longer Races

Beside the Bikingman events, I'll be racing two longer Races, The Transcontinentale Race across Europe, as well as the first edition of the Trans Pyrenees.

The Trans America Bike Race

“For those unfamiliar, the race is gearing up for it’s 5th iteration of sending off self supported road racers on a 4300 mile (7000km) journey across the US on a brisk 10 state adventure.  Featured in the film Inspired to Ride, the Trans Am is part of a quickly growing subset of cyclists.  Born out a desire to race on roads with techniques and ethics based in the world of ultra endurance bikepacking events such as the Tour Divide, the Trans Am stands as the middle ground between events like Race Across America and Tour Divide.  One being a supported road race across the country and the other being a self supported off road race down the spine of the country.  The race bears a little similarity to the European Transcontinental mostly by the similar style of conventional road bikes ridden in the event and it’s cross continent nature”
As described on the 2018 Trans Am website

The race in numbers

  • The race cover 7000km from Astoria, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia, following the Trans America trail route as described by the Adventure Cycling Association.
  • 50.000m of gained elevation
  • 17 days 8 hours – Is the record set by Evan Deutsch in 2017, beating the previous 17 days 16 hours record set in the 2013 first edition by Mike Hall.
  • 25 competitors finished the race on the first edition, 54 during the 2017 edition, averaging 50% of finisher.

My objective during the race

  • I’m aiming to finish the race within Top5 racers, finishing the race in +/-20days and averaging 350km a day.
  • 15hours will be the daily average time of pedaling.
